Jet2 Cabin Bag Size 2026: 10 kg Bag and Under-Seat Bag Rules

The Jet2 cabin bag size is 56 x 45 x 25 cm, including any wheels and handles, with a maximum weight of 10 kg, and that one piece of hand luggage is free. You can also bring a small under-seat bag of up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm that fits under the seat in front of you. These hand luggage sizes are as stated by Jet2 on its website, checked 19 October 2026.

Allowance Size (cm) Size (inches) Weight Who gets it
Hand luggage, one piece 56 x 45 x 25, wheels and handles included 22 x 17.5 x 10 10 kg Free, included as standard, infants excluded
Under-seat bag 40 x 30 x 20 15.5 x 12 x 8 No limit stated Allowed if it fits under the seat in front of you

Jet2 gives its sizes in centimetres only. The inches are our conversion (1 inch = 2.54 cm), rounded to the nearest half inch, so for a close fit measure in centimetres.

Jet2 hand luggage size: 56 x 45 x 25 cm

Your free piece of hand luggage can measure up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm. Jet2’s hand luggage FAQ says you can take one piece free “as long as it weighs no more than 10kg and is no larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including any wheels and handles.” The Jet2holidays baggage page gives the same figures and calls it “10kg hand luggage included as standard (excluding infants)”.

Wheels and handles count towards the limit. For a rucksack, measure it with its pockets filled, the way you will carry it.

Jet2 under-seat bag size: 40 x 30 x 20 cm

The Jet2 under-seat bag can measure up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm. Jet2 allows it “if it doesn’t exceed 40 x 30 x 20cm in size and can be placed underneath the seat in front of you.” It comes on top of the 10 kg hand luggage, so you can carry a small backpack and a cabin bag.

You may see 40 x 30 x 15 cm quoted for the Jet2 personal item on other sites. Jet2’s own pages say 40 x 30 x 20 cm, and the airline’s figure is the one that applies.

Jet2 hand luggage weight: 10 kg

The weight limit is 10 kg for the piece of hand luggage. Jet2’s pages give no separate weight for the under-seat bag, so we do not print one. Weigh the main bag packed at home, with a luggage scale or by weighing yourself on a bathroom scale with and without it.

What happens if your bag is too big for Jet2

Jet2 says hand baggage over the size, weight or number of pieces incurs a fee per item, listed in its Baggage Allowance and Fees FAQ. We do not quote the amount here. Measure and weigh both bags packed before you leave.

How to measure a backpack for Jet2

Measure your backpack packed, the way you will carry it. A soft bag packed full bulges, so the size on the label can grow once it is filled.

  • Height: from the base to the top of the bag, top handle included.
  • Width: across the widest point, side pockets included.
  • Depth: from the back panel to the front of the front pocket, packed. For the under-seat bag this is the 20 cm to watch.

Jet2 cabin bag size compared with other airlines

Jet2’s free 10 kg hand luggage is as large as easyJet’s large cabin bag and the British Airways cabin bag, and its under-seat bag matches the free bag on Ryanair and Aer Lingus. These are the figures each airline states on its own website, checked 19 October 2026.

Airline Small or under-seat bag (cm) Larger cabin bag (cm)
Jet2 Under-seat bag 40 x 30 x 20, no weight stated Hand luggage 56 x 45 x 25, up to 10 kg
Ryanair Small personal bag 40 x 30 x 20, no weight stated 10kg Cabin Bag 55 x 40 x 20, 10 kg
easyJet Small cabin bag 45 x 36 x 20, up to 15 kg Large cabin bag 56 x 45 x 25, up to 15 kg
Aer Lingus Personal item 40 x 30 x 20, no weight stated 10kg bag 55 x 40 x 24, 10 kg
Loganair Cabin bag 40 x 35 x 18, under 6 kg None, plus a small handbag (no size given)
British Airways Hand bag 40 x 30 x 15, no weight stated on its hand baggage page Cabin bag 56 x 45 x 25, no weight stated, every cabin including Economy Basic

Which bag is included depends on the airline and the fare. Taking the smallest figure on each side of the six small bags gives a 40 x 30 x 15 cm box, set by British Airways. Leave British Airways out and it is 40 x 30 x 18 cm. On their stated dimensions, the three under-seat backpacks listed above fit both boxes: our women’s black genuine leather backpack, our women’s backpack in oiled cowhide and our women’s vegan leather backpack. A soft bag packed full bulges, so measure yours packed.

The new EU cabin bag rule

An EU rule will set a personal item every passenger may bring on board, of at least 40 x 30 x 15 cm, with no weight minimum and no obligation to include a cabin bag in every fare. Regulation (EU) 2026/2202 was published on 2 October 2026 and applies 12 months later, so from about October 2027, exact date to be confirmed. We found no UK rule of this kind, and the European Commission’s questions and answers do not say how it treats UK flights.
